The Blacker the Berry the Sweeter the Juice

Finding your shade is hard out here for black women. Some companies don't always get the formula right with us black women. we either are left with looking like Oompa-Loompa or one of the Gross sisters from The Proud Family. I notice trying out makeup products for black women is the same as trying out products for natural hair. Just TRIAL N ERROR!

Have no fear though, black women have broken out in the makeup game and heard our screams, cries, and complaints and healed our wounds. Here are my top 4 black-owned makeup companies that ill recommend to black women.

Shea moisture is known for their excellent hair products and they have branched out into the makeup industry. they have a weightless foundation for medium, medium-dark, dark, deep dark which is spectacular because those are the girl always having trouble finding their shade. The advertised mostly for girls who have ethnic hair, but my white chocolate girls have jumped on the Shea Moisture brand as well. It was founded in 1991 by Richelieu Dennis and Sofi Tucker. My favorite products to use is the African Black Soap Collection and the Raw Shea Butter Masque, and the JOJOBA OIL & UCUUBA BUTTER BRAID UP & TAKE DOWN DETANGLER.

Mrs. Keyshia Ka'oire! Known as Keyshia Davis, the wife of the famous rapper Gucci Mane. Keyshia showed us, black women, we can wear any bright color lipsticks we want and pull it off. from bright pinks, yellows, oranges, greens, blue etc. She changed the makeup game for us black women. You can shop at her store here.

also in breaking news! Black girls are taking over the nude lip game we have our little secret.

Yall know I live for palettes and Juvia's Place is the place to go! It is a black-owned brand and they always give you "The Motherland" tease with their packaging and they have bright beautiful pigmented colors to do fabulous glam or natural eye looks with. I'll recommend this brand to any girl that is obsessed with palettes and love to do creative eye looks. Can shop at Juvia's Place here.

Favorite palettes:

This is another black-owned brand in the makeup industry. I really love their blush palettes, their packaging is very cute just like the Cake-Mix Demi Matte Foundation which and the packaging is a cake-box. It comes in 59 flavors which chocolate being #1. So find your flavor and go baking girl! I do also recommend the coffee and coco bronzer palette for a ferocious highlight and to bronze with. They also launched a concealer which I recommend using for a nice base for your eyes so your eyeshadow colors can really pop! You can shop at Beauty Bakerie here.
